Are you looking for an encouraging and soothing place to start your yoga journey? Alceme is the perfect place.  Whether you have tried a few yoga classes and you’re ready to commit to a regular practice, or you’ve never tried yoga before but you’re keen to start; At Alceme, we have highly trained and committed teachers that will nurture, guide and assist you to build a consistent yoga practice with ease.

Yoga is an all inclusive practice and we believe it has many benefits.  Some of our teachers say that it has helped them calm their anxiety, built their fitness and strength, given them purpose and relieved pain. (these results may vary and are not guaranteed).

If you feel a bit intimidated, unsure or anxious, please know that we were all beginners once too.  We know how it can feel entering a new studio for the first time. Our teachers are friendly, approachable and your comfort and safety is their highest priority. We’ll greet you with a smile and hopefully leave you feeling lighter!

What do I wear?

We recommend you wear comfortable, stretchy clothes that allow you to move freely.

Do I need to bring anything?

A drink bottle and your yoga clothes! We provide mats and props.  If you do not wish to use shared equipment, you’re welcome to bring your own mat, block and strap.

Do you have a change room/showers/toilets?

We have a bathroom and a locker room.  Our locker room is unisex, so we recommend you change in the bathrooms, at home, or we do have a room divider in the locker room for a quick change however this is not a private cubicle.

What classes can I come to if I'm brand new to yoga?

We have a beginners class on Saturday mornings, but we also recommend our Vinyasa, Soul Flow, Gentle Flow, Yin and Restorative classes for beginners too.

Do I have to be flexible?

Definitely not! Our class sequences are designed for all levels and the great thing about yoga is that the poses (asana) are adaptable, so what works for someone’s body, may not work for yours, and we acknowledge that. Our teachers are highly skilled and they are there to help you practice with a sense of calm. If you have any concerns or injuries, we ask that you let us know before you start practicing.
